Have you ever let someone else tell you how to view yourself? What I mean by that is did you ever have someone say something mean about you or maybe even to you, and you started to believe what they said?
That’s always a horrible situation, no doubt about it.
We were contacted by the mother of a young lady, that was experiencing kids at school making fun of her. Her mother obviously loved her a great deal, and was very concerned about her internalizing the mean things being said to her. So she contracted with us to write a song for her daughter, knowing that her daughter has a special connection with music.
(Did I mention that Harbor Boulevard Music writes and records custom songs?)
So we wrote her a song, and screenprinted a few shirts, a tote bag, made a photo DVD with the song laid on top of it, the song on a cd and karaoke version on cd, with no lyrics in case she wanted to sing along – we even found a company that would print the lyrics on a wall plaque. We placed all of the items into a nice gift basket, and shrink wrapped the package – it was beautiful.
But there was a secret message to her in this song and in the message.
“Don’t give anyone your pen, you write your own story, you be the author of your story!”
